The Salt Lake Community College Lady Bruins hit the court on the night of Feb. 28 to take on the team with home court advantage, Snow College. The Bruins found themselves in a whole during the first half, but rose to the challenge to score the Region 18 Championship in a 67-65 victory.

The Lady Bruins knew they were the number one seed in the Region tournament, but on Friday night Snow College had the advantage with the home court factor.

SLCC trailed by six points as the buzzer sounded to end the first half of play, and the second half they found themselves down by 10 points.

The Bruins had never given up all season and didn’t give up in the Championship. The Bruins and Badgers were going back and forth late in the second half until Summer Yack hit a huge shot in the second half with a key three-pointer that gave the Bruins a five point lead.

Snow College came back down the court and drew a foul that put them on the line to tie the game back up at 59-59. Bella Swan then went to the other end of the court to draw a foul of her own and sunk a pair of free throws to help the Bruins fight off the pesky Badgers on their own court.

Head Coach, Betsy Specketer and the Bruins will square off with second-seeded College of Southern Idaho (CSI) in the Region 18 Championship Game on Saturday, Mar. 1 in Ephraim, Utah. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. from the Horne Activity Center. The winner of the Region 18 Championship Game will earn an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament in Salina, Kan.

Game Coverage: The SLCC vs. CSI  Region 18 Final on Saturday will be available for viewing via the Snow College YouTube live Web stream at www.youtube.com/watch?v=tV0cMNQbsyk. The broadcast will begin 10 minutes prior to tipoff.
