From Harry Potter to Freddy Krueger, Utah’s own local coffee shops are turning up the spook factor this fall. Here are some tricks and treats you can find near Salt Lake Community College campuses, whether you’re headed to class or want to get your study on.

Bjorn’s Brew

For the month of October, Bjorn’s Brew will be offering two Harry Potter-themed drinks, Espresso Patronum and Deathly Hallows Latte.

Espresso Patronum includes coffee with a hint of pumpkin pie sauce, cream and a double shot of espresso. The Deathly Hallows Latte is a bewitching mixture of espresso with vanilla, hazelnut and caramel sauce.

One barista at Bjorn’s recommended the Espresso Patronum for newcomers or the Sinner’s Latte, which is also their most popular drink. The Sinner’s Latte has the same mixture as the Deathly Hallows Latte, except it includes an extra shot of espresso.

Bjorn’s offers a cozy yet modern atmosphere great for studying and is filled, with unique nooks and crannies seating and speedy Wi-Fi.

Bjorn’s has locations near the South City campus on 2165 State St. and a drive through in Foothill on 2358 Foothill Drive.

A fun bonus: Every drink comes with a dog bone-shaped gingerbread cookie.

Rawbean Coffee

Rawbean Coffee, which gets creative with its drink names every month, has dreamed up five spooky drinks for the Halloween season: Chucky, Freddy Krueger, Beetlejuice, Blair Witch and Pumpkin King.

Chucky, named for the red-headed terror in the “Child’s Play” horror film, is a latte with espresso, caramel, pumpkin, maple and spice flavorings.

Don’t like coffee but still want to be festive? Rawbean also offers the Blair Witch, a sweet caramel cider, and the Pumpkin King, a pumpkin spice dirty chai.

Rawbean feels like a neighborhood coffee shop, with a fireplace on its main floor of the Salt Lake location and comfortable couches on the second level. Both the Downtown and West Valley locations have drive-throughs if you’re in a rush.

Rawbean can be found on 611 S. West Temple and 1663 W. 7000 S.

Beans and Brews

Beans and Brews offers two seasonal drinks this fall, Pumpkin Pie Frutalia and Hot Apple Cider. The Pumpkin Pie Frutalia includes espresso, steamed milk, pumpkin pie sauce and a garnish of whipped cream topped with nutmeg sprinkles.

Beans and Brews has over 40 locations in Utah, each offering free Wi-Fi. Each location has a unique atmosphere, but most are inviting, and comfortable for studying.

Locations closest to SLCC campuses include: 1776 W. 5400 S. in Taylorsville, 268 S. State St. near Library Square, 3301 S. State St. in South City, and 9002 S. Redwood Road in West Jordan.
