Salt Lake Community College offers a lot of great resources for students, but one of the less talked about resources is the Markosian Library.
The Markosian is a great place to study, get your homework done, and just hang out. Two years ago, the library completed a major renovation. The project included an updated floor plan, complete with new carpeting and modern furniture, redesigned study spaces and a café, which is now a popular student hangout.
Library staff wanted to breathe new life into the library by adding all of these new features, and as a result, have made the Markosian the place to be at Taylorsville Redwood Campus.
“More and more students are visiting every day and it’s a great thing to see,” says Richard Danes, assistant director of the Markosian Library.
In addition to the facility upgrades, the library has also increased the amount of resources and services that students can use for their research.
“We have added a lot more services such as staff to help students with research, new databases, staff to help with navigating textbooks, hotspots for those who don’t have access to the internet at home, textbook rentals, DVD rentals and of course, book rentals,” says Danes.
Students need their OneCard to check out books from the library.
If you are looking for a quiet place to study, the library offers private tables, as well as rooms for study groups.
This fall, the Markosian Library is open 7:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays, and 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. Visit SLCC Libraries for more information.
