If you’re studying, bar hopping, going to a concert or hanging out with friends, finding a place to eat late at night can be a challenge.

The typical 24-hour restaurants are always an option, but it can be fun to mix it up and try something new. If you’re looking for a new place for lunch, dinner or practically anything after a night out with friends, sample one of the following.

Pie Hole

The Pie Hole, one of Salt Lake’s most popular spots after midnight, is in the heart of downtown on 344 S. State St. The Pie Hole is known for constantly trying new pizza combinations, is inexpensive, and allows their customers to add new art to the restaurant in the form of graffiti and stickers. Slices are about $2 each, and the restaurant serves beer and wine. The Pie Hole is open Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-2 a.m. and Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 a.m.

Sicilia Pizza and Kitchen

Sicilia Pizza and Kitchen is another popular pizza place downtown, located on 35 W. Broadway. They serve pizza by the slice, calzones, lasagna and more, with pizza by the slice at only $3. They’re open Monday-Wednesday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Thursday from 11 a.m.-11 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-3 a.m. and Sunday 3 p.m.-10 p.m.

J Dawgs

For a more classic option, visit J Dawgs at 341 Main Street. They offer hot dogs and polish dogs on fresh baked buns with their special sauce. “Dawgs” start at $4 each, or you can make it a combo for $7 to include chips and a drink. J Dawgs is open Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-2 a.m.

Alberto’s Mexican Food

A favorite among students is Alberto’s Mexican Food, located at 511 S. 300 West, who offers a wide variety of food, with most of their items under $10. Dine in is available, or just grab your order through the drive-thru. Alberto’s is open 24 hours a day, Monday-Saturday, though they close at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, and remain closed all day.

Johnny Slice

Johnny Slice just opened earlier this year, but despite the name offers a lot more than pizza by the slice, including breakfast all day, build your own pizza, sandwiches and more. By the slice pizza is $3, with most other menu items under $10. They’re open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-11 p.m, Friday 8 a.m.-2 a.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-2 a.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
