Salt Lake Community College Dance Company will perform their annual fall concert this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Theatre.

“Moving Words” is the theme of this year’s fall concert. SLCC Dance Company director Tess Boone says the concert will also feature House of Lewis, a Utah hip-hop group that appeared on season 11 of “America’s Got Talent.”

“We have [dances with] live drumming, one with more of an African-Brazilian focus and the other one is more West Africa-based, Guinean in particular,” she adds.

To accompany the hip-hop performances, dances from other genres will also be featured, including tap, modern dance and ballet.

“We have some really cool pieces, and they’re really diverse,” says dance company member Haley Roundy.

Boone says her students have been preparing for this concert every day since the beginning of the semester. The dancers themselves are excited to take the stage to show how hard they have worked this fall.

“We are dancing a lot, from noon to 6 p.m. every single day,” says dance company member Victoria Marshall.

SLCC students who want to attend the concert can get in for free with their OneCard. General admission tickets are $10, but only $5 with a donation of two non-perishable food items to the Grand Theatre ticket office.
