Local a cappella group Eclipse 6 will return to Salt Lake Community College to spread the Christmas spirit.

The Christmas with Eclipse concert will will feature a mix of traditional holiday favorites and some popular tracks from the band’s two Christmas albums.

“Merging vocal music and Christmas music works really well,” says band member Shayne Taylor. “Our arrangement of songs sets our show apart.

“People will hear Christmas songs they love, but [they will also] enjoy the songs they don’t [normally] love [because of] our arrangement. We are Eclipsing songs and changing them to something beautiful and fun.”

The members of Eclipse 6 originally met at Utah State University and released their first album in early 2001. The band gained worldwide recognition after performing at opening and closing ceremonies for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Eclipse 6 has released nine albums to date, and toured across the United States and Asia.

The group will perform their Christmas show Dec. 11, 12 and 14 in the Grand Theatre at South City Campus. Tickets went on sale Oct. 15.

“This will be the 11th season [of Christmas With Eclipse] and we are excited,” says Grand Theatre staffer Breezy Bassett.

Eclipse 6 Christmas concerts are a popular event in the community.

“People have made it part of their holiday traditions,” Taylor says.

The Grand Theatre offers a family-friendly environment for guests of all ages.

“It’s fun for the whole family. People bring their toddlers or their grandparents, there is something for everyone,” Taylor adds.

Tickets can be purchased in person or online at the Grand Theatre box office. All three concerts are expected to sell out.

Taylor says the band will upload new music videos leading up to the Christmas concert.

All nine albums are available on iTunes or through the band’s website.
