Salt Lake Community College students put their filmmaking skills on display for the 8th annual SLCCSA Film Festival.
This year SLCC students submitted a total of 22 films in six different categories — documentary, drama, music video, commercial, comedy and action/suspense/horror.
“It’s awesome that students are willing to put their voice out there for [everyone] to see. I thought most of the films were great,” says Brad Bennion, an SLCC student.
One of those students, Angela Rosales Challis, submitted two videos for the festival.
Challis entered a music video called, “I’m Free” and collaborated with Chris Luker on a drama dubbed “Sirens Call.”
This is the third year Challis has entered the festival.
Challis left her native Bolivia in 1999 and received a bachelor’s degree from BYU in art with an emphasis in dance education. She entered the film technician program at SLCC in 2012.
She graduated from SLCC in 2014 with a film technician degree and will start her graduate work at the University of Utah this fall.
Voting for the festival took place online April 13-17. Winners will be announced Tuesday, April 28.
