The Salt Lake Community College women’s basketball team’s 16-game win streak was snapped on Saturday as they fell to Snow College 56-46 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game.

The Bruins had been playing great basketball in the SWAC conference when they entered Ephraim with a 16-game win streak including 10 in conference play.

No. 6-ranked SLCC entered Saturday’s game with the opportunity to tie the 2009-2010 Bruins record of 17 straight wins in a season.

The Bruins knew the Badgers of Snow College came to play when at the end of the first half the Bruins only had a two point lead.

The Badgers defense frustrated the Bruins into 29 percent shooting from the field in the first half.

The Badgers outscored the Bruins 33-21 in the second half to pick up their first win of the season against SLCC snapping the Bruins’ 16-game win streak in the process. The Badgers forced the Bruins into 19 turnovers and out rebounded the Bruins 37-33.

In the loss, sophomore guard Natalie Parsons led the Bruins with 12 points and had three assists. Sophomore guard Summer Yack put up nine points and added two rebounds, and freshman guard Cassidy Fraughton finished the way with five points and a team-high nine boards to end her night.

Next up for the Bruins 400-win head coach Betsy Specketer and the Bruins is another road game at North Idaho College, on Thursday, Feb. 13 in Idaho. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
