ACHA-NCHA Data

This year, Salt Lake Community College offers De-Stress Fest during finals week to help students stay relaxed.

Tatiana Burton, the Health Promotion Program Manager at SLCC, says that it is vital for students to stay stress free during finals and mentions statistics from a 2011 ACHA-NCHA survey that tell of the effects of stress on students.

“I think it’s important for students to know that stress is the number one academic impact for SLCC students,” says Burton. “This is the main reason explaining why we have de-stress fest.”

Burton says there are many ways to handle stress and offers these great tips for staying stress free:

  • Don’t Procrastinate
  • Set priorities
  • Make time for yourself
  • Get plenty of rest
  • Ask your professors for help

The De-Stress Fest will be highlighted by Laughter Yoga and a Hypnotist among other daily activities that will help students relax and stay calm for their finals.

More information can be found at the SLCC Health and Wellness services website.
