“The more involvement we have, the healthier the organization is, and the better it represents the students,” says Matt Jensen the Governmental Affairs Chair.
Lack of participation has been a major problem in prior voting years. Student Life and Leadership is hoping to change that this year with better advertising and using the OrgSync website.
In addition to the President and Vice President positions, there are over 30 chairs available in student government.
Due to lack of student voter participation in previous years, all of these positions are no longer appointed by election but through an application process.
Students who are interested in filling these positions must be full time, attending a minimum of 12 credit hours for the fall and spring semesters and maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
For those who are interested in applying, more information can be found by contacting Student Life and Leadership. Applications are also available online at the OrgSync website, just click on the SLL Chair openings tab.
