Salt Lake Community College students who don’t have health insurance can still afford to access medical and dental care on campus.

“We offer a lot of medical services at a discounted rate,” says Greg Martino, an employee at the South City Campus Medical Clinic. “Feel comfortable to walk in and ask questions. There’s a lot of different resources that we have. We’re here for the students.”

SLCC’s Center for Health and Counseling has medical clinics at the Taylorsville Redwood, South City and Jordan campuses. Students can receive preventative health screenings, physicals, immunizations, sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and treatments, treatment of chronic illness, family planning, minor procedures and urgent care.

An office visit costs $15, but this price does not include any lab work or procedures. Appointments are encouraged, but not required. Payment is due at the time of the appointment.

Students who are feeling stressed can receive counseling or massage therapy. Counseling sessions cost $15 per visit, while hour-long massage sessions cost $30 per visit.

While these services are primarily for students, employees can also schedule visits if they’re available. Pricing may vary. Call 801-957-4268 or schedule an appointment online.

At the SLCC Dental Hygiene Clinic, dental hygiene students work under the supervision of licensed professionals. The services are available to everyone, and students are even offered discounts.

Services offered through the clinic include exams, x-rays, cleanings and fluoride.

Students who need help with procedures such as root canals, fillings, tooth extractions, implants and dentures can sign up for a separate dental benefits program that is offered through SLCC. The program enables participating dentists to offer discounts averaging 20 percent.

The Dental Hygiene Clinic is located in room 133 of the High Tech Learning Center at Jordan Campus. The Dental Hygiene Clinic is open during fall and spring semesters. Call 801-957-6001 to make an appointment.
