Center for Languages offers free tutoring

Salt Lake Community College students who are learning a language should visit the most diverse place on campus.

The Center for Languages offers tutoring and language resources for American Sign Language, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese and Russian. SLCC students can apply their skills by interacting with international students and learning about other cultures.

The language center provides free tutoring to students and faculty throughout the school year to improve their communication and writing skills. Students enrolled in a language course can enhance their learning by conversing with native speakers.

Tutors can work with one to five students at a time and help them with conversations, culture-related questions and assignments. Students need to go online to schedule an appointment.

In addition to one-on-one tutoring, students can use language software in the computer lab to practice and develop their oral and written communication skills.

The language center has a library of learning resources that are available for checkout. Students must have their OneCard to check out any materials, which must remain in the lab at all times.

The Center for Languages is located in room 418 of the Technology Building at Taylorsville Redwood Campus. Contact lab coordinator Lin Chen for more information.
