Performing live at the Twilight Concert held at Pioneer Park, Erykah Badu’s performance was nothing short of moving, as she entered the stage the crowd erupted in the moment of truth.
“I’ve never seen her before or known about her, but right from the start I could tell she was special,” says fan Nargis Mullahkel. “She touched me in a way almost undescribed and displayed a celebrity that didn’t let the fame change who she was, but rather grew with it.”
Ms. Badu is the epitome of the saying “anything is possible,” by defying an abundance of obstacles and juggling an overwhelming amount of responsibilities that life as thrown at her.
She has conquered the music industry by being a singer-songwriter and also producer. Badu has made a small name in the film industry playing strong roles in the movies Cider House Rules and the House of D.
Her relentless drive does not stop there she is also a “Doula” which is a labor coach. Badu has taken it upon herself to dabble into the world of natural birth.
Badu is also a mother of three with her son Seven and her daughters Mars and Puma. She leads a fascinating life that that would overwhelm most at just the thought, but manages it well enough to come to Salt Lake City and perform live.
Versatile could describe Ms. Badu in one word, however, it does not give her justice as she is much more than can be put into words.
“I loved it,” says SLCC student and fan Mixsa Kahfi. “She was simply amazing and I wish she went longer.”
Badu has always been known for a powerful voice and exotically textured sound that captures the hearts of her fans. She also chooses to wear the most flamboyantly calming mixture of fashion and personal taste that speaks volumes in itself.
“I love her style,” says local fan Jordan Stevenson.
The fans left the concert pleased and eager to hear more from Erykah Badu and her team that created a blissful sound as a whole.
“She had a powerful beautiful voice and the backdrop was amazing,” says SLCC Globe Editor in Chief Julie Hirschi.
Erykah Badu never seems to lack the ability to touch people and to make her presence felt with a forceful passion.
“I felt her presence as soon as she stepped on stage,” says local fan Roger Jessop.
