A portfolio is required for many professional positions as a way to showcase your past work and skills. Many struggle to find their best work, but as a student, you’re already one step ahead.
Salt Lake Community College requires an ePortfolio for all general education courses. The purpose of a general education ePortfolio is to showcase your best academic work throughout your years at SLCC.
If you’re a student who wants — or needs — help building a professional ePortfolio for your career, the school provides an ePortfolio lab where you can get all the help you need.
Students who did not create an ePortfolio prior to August 2016 must use SLCC’s platform, Digication. If you already created a portfolio using Weebly, Wix, or another platform, you are free to continue using those.
Since a general education ePortfolio is absolutely required for graduation, don’t let this be the one homework you skip out on. If anything, this is the easiest required assignment.
Once you have the layout of your portfolio set up, all you need to do is upload your work as you go. In most cases, it’s something you have already completed in class, plus a small reflection.
“I really enjoyed building my ePortfolio,” said Jacob, a general studies student at SLCC. “The staff at the ePortfolio lab are great. They helped me immensely with what I wanted.”
Taylorsville Redwood, Jordan, South City and West Valley campuses have ePortfolio labs, with hours that vary depending on the campus.
