The Latinos in Action club hosted its fifth annual high school conference last Thursday at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus.
Over 380 students from eight different high schools attended the conference, where they were able to take part in multiple workshops taught by Salt Lake Community College professors and students.
“We want to teach students important skills that will help them in future, but we also want them to have fun while they’re here,” says LIA co-president Agustin Bautista.
The theme of this year’s conference was “CulTUra,” the Spanish word for culture, with the word “tu” — “you” in English — highlighted in red. The event promotes the importance of higher education among Latinos and of Latinos embracing their native culture.
