Salt Lake Community College is sweetening the deal for students who use their OneCard at the campus food courts.
SLCC is adding to the list of OneCard perks by providing different forms of credit to students who invest in the Bruin Meal Plan.
“The Bruin Meal Plan is a meal card that students can load money on and earn a 5% discount every time they use it at any of our dining locations,” says Nicci Rivetti, Food Services manager at Taylorsville Redwood Campus.
Another incentive being offered to students is a $10 bonus credit for every $50 deposit in the Bruin Meal Plan. Students can receive this $10 bonus up to five times. The funds cannot be withdrawn and must be used at SLCC food courts.
Any accounts that are not in use for one year will have all remaining balances forfeited.
Bruin Meal Plan funds are accepted at any Food Services locations in the Taylorsville Redwood, South City and Miller campuses.
“The benefit to students eating on campus is that it is conveniently located on campus, and the pricing structure of our entire food court is framed to fit a student’s budget,” Rivetti says.
One example of an affordable meal is the Bruin Bowls.
“This program is designed to offer meals under $3,” Rivetti explains. “We have a mac and cheese station or soup station along with a fresh made breadstick for lunch, and offer hot cereals such as steel-cut oats and grits in the morning.”
Providing convenient fresh food options is a priority for the Food Services department.
“We offer nutritious and delicious foods in multiple varieties as we are making all of our foods from scratch [with the exception of a few items at South City Campus],” Rivetti says.
Students can bring their OneCard to any campus information desk to sign up for the Bruin Meal Plan.
