Fellow SLCC Bruins,
On behalf of your Salt Lake Community College Student Government, it is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to the 2016-17 academic year.
As SLCC Student Association (SLCCSA) officers, we are thrilled to share with you a year filled with new experiences, opportunities, challenges and memories that will help you learn, grow and invigorate our communities.
Salt Lake Community College is one of the Top 10 producers of associate’s degrees in the country. We also have one of the most diverse student bodies of any higher education institution in Utah. And SLCC has many well-established community partners that support the growth and success of our students before, during and after graduation.
Your Student Association is continually advocating for students by connecting them to resources and providing support for a successful student experience. You will find support from SLCCSA in the Student Life and Leadership offices at the Taylorsville Redwood, South City and Jordan campuses. SLCCSA is committed to helping you navigate college life all the way to completion by actively engaging with every student at every campus and SLCC location.
SLCCSA is an organization composed of student leaders who are driven to inspire, assist, guide, serve, represent and be inclusive of all students from diverse cultures, abilities and ages by:
- Addressing student issues and needs
- Providing access to opportunities
- Building communication bridges
- Collaborating with faculty and staff
- Working with the community
SLCCSA has an executive council that is focused on inclusion and underrepresented student groups. Our regional vice presidents have boards of dedicated students in charge of planning events and service projects at our campuses. Your student government will represent you with passion and integrity, inviting you to get involved by attending movie nights, carnivals, guest speakers, service projects, concerts and SLCC’s Bruin Bash, the College’s largest event coming Sept. 16.
We have over 70 clubs for those who are looking for a more meaningful college experience. Get involved. Join a club or student board. Stop by one of many fun events throughout the year. Or, if you have any questions or concerns, please, feel free to visit us in any of the Student Life and Leadership offices.
Have a great year—and, GO BRUINS!!!
