Student Life and Leadership hosted a #ThrowbackThursday dance Feb. 25 at South City Campus.

The multipurpose room was filled with music, food and an assortment of mocktails for students to try. Partygoers were encouraged to dress up from a different decade and bring family, friends and fellow students for a fun night of dancing.

Student Life and Leadership also announced Arturo Salazar and Connor Holt as the winning candidates for Student Association President and Executive Vice President, respectively.

Salazar and Holt each expressed their love appreciation for all the support.

President-elect Salazar chose to share a quote that inspires him, from writer Chris Bradford, “Only by binding together as a single force will we remain strong and unconquerable,” a sentiment which he hopes his time in office will reflect.

Holt also spoke to the large crowd, saying “I love you all, thank you!”

Both Salazar and Holt look forward to making changes and representing the student body during the next academic year. They aim to bring the students closer together and form a great community.

The dance continued once the announcements were made and the winners congratulated.

The success behind the #ThrowbackThursday dance was attributed to several different clubs, one of them being the Student Health Advisory Committee, aka SHAC. SHAC members provided the mocktails to promote a healthy lifestyle among their peers.

“The drinks are amazing,” student Bryce Johnson remarked. “They have a great cause. They are promoting healthy living.”

Students who were unable to attend the #ThrowbackThursday dance can visit their local Student Life and Leadership office for information on upcoming events.
