Salt Lake Community College’s Drama Club will be hosting a night of musical theatre, dance and comedy this Friday in the Black Box Theatre.
Alex Leon, vice president of the Drama Club, says the theme of the production — titled “A Little More Homework” — describes college not as the end of an educational career, but the beginning.
Leon organized this event to help raise funds towards the club’s spring trip to New York City. But the students involved in “A Little More Homework” are passionate, as each individual performance represents a challenge they have overcome.
One example of this theme will shine through when student Ashley Bostrom takes the stage to perform “Unusual Way.”
“It’s meaningful, because it’s about acceptance of self, acceptance of others and appreciation for love and relationships,” Leon says of Bostrom’s choice.
Kortney King wants to encourage the audience when she performs “A Step Too Far.”
“It’s about struggle and finding your place in this world,” King says.
Club members hope their cabaret performances will inspire others to persevere through life’s challenges and do better each day.
“A Little More Homework” will be held in the Black Box on Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. The Drama Club is asking for $5 donations at the door.
This event has been postponed and the new date is yet to be announced. The SLCC Drama Club Facebook page has the event posted and will announce the new date.
