Dear students,
Welcome (or welcome back!) to Salt Lake Community College! To those who are here for the first time, congratulations on your excellent choice. Hopefully you will find your experience here full of both challenge and support. Our quality faculty and small class sizes will nudge you toward more engaged learning, relevant competencies, and independent thinking; our e-portfolio will help you connect disciplines and chronicle your learning; and our student services team will guide you on your academic path and support you in your educational goals, whatever they may be. Take advantage of these caring professionals and robust resources to help make your transition easier.
For those of you continuing, make sure you’re on target to meet your goals. Meet with a program advisor or faculty member to review your educational path and begin to think ahead about experiences, employment, or courses which can complement your program of study. Many of our students find out much too late that there were resources—financial, academic, or social—that would have made their experience here better.
On behalf of SLCC’s dynamic faculty, staff and administration, I am excited to start another year and have all of you—60,000 strong—back in our halls and classrooms. I hope you have a great year and take the time to establish new relationships, seek out expert faculty, and use all of the resources SLCC has to offer. Work hard, have fun, think deeply. We look forward to helping you on your way in your education, career, and life.
