Welcome to SLCC Talks: A feature where “The Globe” asks fellow students questions about SLCC issues.
Subjects, questions and responses are found online via our Facebook page, Twitter or here at GlobeSLCC.com.
In this edition of SLCC Talks we talk about event attendance at SLCC events.
“SLCC events have a hard time bringing in large audiences, Why do you think that is?”
Steven Hirst
This is my first year at SLCC so I’m still getting into it. With a lot of the academic work that we do and I guess with a lot of the homework. I don’t really have time. I guess with a lot of the situations that our age group is at, there is a lot of work involved. It’s kinda hard to go out to those certain events. Yeah, I haven’t really seen any events; I haven’t seen any programs that are being listed too much. Maybe more advertisements would bring in more students.

I’ve been attending for almost a year and half now and I really don’t. There’s really not too much—I’m not aware of them. There’s not enough…I notice flyers sometimes. I think there could be a little bit more influence in getting the word out. I know a lot of people have families. A lot who are older coming here have families and can’t make it to the events. Maybe more family-friendly events.
