At Utah’s first ever Salt Lake Comic Con attendees came out in full force in impressive numbers and officially selling out on the final day.

Comic Con serves as an oasis not only for fans of comic books, but also fans of video games, sci-fi, movies and so much more.

Fans share such a passion that they even participate in Cosplay; short for costume play in which fans dress up as their favorite characters from popular fiction.

For some these costumes are much more elaborate than your typical outfit that you get from Party City. Layton resident, Justin Vandongen stated that his cousin put in 30 hours into his intricate Old Republic costume.

The cosplay subculture is even being done professionally by professional cosplay models such as Jessica Nigri, Leeanna Vamp, Nicole Marie Jean and Constantine In Tokyo. At the Cosplay Make-up panel Constantine gave some good advice. “Cosplay 101, don’t stick glue in your eyes!”

With the success of Salt Lake Comic Con, it is clear that the Cosplay is also here to stay.
