  • Those interested in playing can contact the team president Jordan Reed at (801)651-4976 or team captain Joe Pututae at (503)421-9509.
  • Team events and postings can also be found at on the team’s Facebook page at SLCC Rugby.

All students are welcome to play, from experienced rugby players to students who are just interested in learning a new sport.

“It’s a great game to play.  It teaches a person to depend on others as well as themselves, to be able to push their own limits,” said team captain Joe Pututae.

According to a 2011 article by ESPN Online, Rugby is “one of the fastest growing sports in America, behind only softball and hockey.”

For a simple primer on the rules of Rugby and how it differs from American Football, look for the Feb. 8 print edition of The Globe, available at any SLCC campus.
