The Utah Highway Patrol has a contract with Salt Lake Community College to provide protection and deter criminal activities around the college’s property.

Officers who are elected by UHP to work at SLCC provide protection at the South City, Meadowbrook, Jordan and Taylorsville Redwood campuses. The officers deal with all kinds of criminal activities on campus but one that occurs often is theft of personal property.

According to one UHP officer, ”We work with all types of criminal activities but the most that we come in contact with, more like three to four times a day, is theft of personal belongings.

Reporting a crime on SLCC grounds
A complete list of dispatch numbers for each campus is available at bit.ly/1Dw0TAL.

”For example, we have had individuals who [go to the] restroom leaving [electronics] and belongings in the computer lab [and] on their return they found their belongings missing.”

Officers advise SLCC students to keep their valuables with them the entire time. Students are also encouraged to keep all windows rolled up and doors locked on their vehicles, and secure bicycles with locks.

Students who wish to report a crime or any suspicious activity on campus can call UHP dispatch at 801-957-3800. Dial 911 for a major emergency.
