The summer semester is coming to an end at Salt Lake Community College. However, for many students, this is not the end of their studies.
As the fall semester approaches, it’s time to register for the next set of classes. Students should be aware of a few factors when registering for classes, as some of the steps may seem overwhelming.
The first place to look for information is the academic calendar on the SLCC website. Semester registration dates are broken up and prioritized by earned hours. Students can use this information to know when they can apply for a class as soon as possible.
The registration period for fall 2019 is currently open to all new and existing students.
The next step is to access the registration tab on mySLCC and select “Register For Classes” in order to access the registration page. Here, students can begin searching for classes pertaining to their degree, and select desired classes to apply to in the Add/Drop classes section.
SLCC reminds students to act fast when it comes to registration as “seats may be limited, so we encourage you to register as soon as your registration time frame opens.”
Students who want to sign up for a full class can add themselves to a waitlist. The waitlist is 20% of the original class size. Any seats that come open will be given to the waitlist students based on the order they signed up.
All students on the waitlist need to attend the first day of class to find out if the instructor will allow them to continue.
It is important for students to remember the registration date that applies to them so they don’t miss their chance to sign up. Otherwise, they may have to wait until the following semester when the class is available.
The fall 2019 semester begins Wednesday, Aug. 21. The last day to add classes is Thursday, Aug. 29.
