It’s finally time for the Fall Dance Gathering and Food Drive at Salt Lake Community College. The Gathering is a celebration of the end of a semester and all the hard work to give back to our community.
The Fall Dance Gathering will be held Nov. 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Theatre. The interim director of SLCC Dance Company, Erica Womack, has put together the dance gathering, which is sure to delight one and all who attend.
This event has multiple choreographers that worked on the numbers performed, along with various dance companies participating. Just to name a few, Municipal Valley Company as well as Rosie’s Company will be present. The different forms of dance being performed include tap, modern, and a little of everything in between.
Lauren Reynolds, of the SLCC Dance Company, said, “Rosie’s Company will be performing an African piece that will correspond with ours. That is a fun piece.”
The SLCC Dance Company is asking all that come and check it out and to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the SLCC Bruin Cupboard. Admission with a student ID and two pieces of non-perishables will get you free entry to the performance. Without the donation of food, the cost of tickets is 5 dollars for students and 10 dollars for others. So save some greenbacks, contribute to a good cause in the process, and enjoy an excellent dance performance in doing so.
The holidays are right around the corner and are a time that students and families need our help the most. Donating food to the Bruin Cupboard is a great way we can help during this holiday season. In addition to donating at the Dance Gathering, food drop-offs are located throughout campus. You can also donate directly to the Bruin Cupboard located at 1575 State St Rm 1-061D Salt Lake City, Utah 84115.
Josh Heredia, a dancer with SLCC Dance Company, said, “They have been training hard to bring their best performance possible for everyone to enjoy.”
The SLCC Dance Company would also like to invite anyone who would like to join the company to audition for the spring semester. Auditions are being held on Dec. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. in room 2-134 on the South City Campus. Men and women are welcome. Anyone auditioning must have previous dance experience and be registered at SLCC. Partial tuition waivers are available as well.
The Fall Dance Gathering will be held Nov. 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Theatre. Get your tickets the day of the show at the Grand Theatre box office located at 1575 S. State St, or call (801) 957-3322.
