Life as a broke college student is rarely easy. In a world that revolves around money, unemployed students are among the people who need it the most.

Every year, Salt Lake Community College Career and Student Employment Services hosts two job fairs for the benefit of students. This semester the fair will be held today in the Lifetime Activities Center from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SLCC is hosting a diverse group of potential employers; over 100 businesses will be at the fair to interview and hire students. All students, regardless of major, are invited to attend the event.

In addition to full-time jobs, many retail stores and other companies will be offering part-time employment options. And with the holidays quickly approaching, a lot of employers are seeking seasonal help.

“UPS is a good place to work, if you are looking to start off your career,” says Brian Flint, supervisor at UPS, a mainstay of SLCC job fairs. “We have many positions that pay well starting and have lots of options for promotion. Some other benefits of working at UPS include a tuition waiver, as well as open shifts that can be taken by full-time students.”

SLCC tries to provide for its students and help them get started on the rest of their lives. The job fair is a valuable way for students to take the first step towards a new career.
