The Grand Theatre is celebrating its silver anniversary by hosting a production of Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last Five Years.”

This modern-day musical chronicles the life, death and resurrection of a twenty-something couple falling in and out of love over a five-year period.

Jamie, played by Trevor Dean, tells his story in chronological order while Cathy, played by Ashley Gardner Carlson, tells her story in reverse. The only time the pair meet up during the show is in the middle, at their wedding.

The inspirational and powerful storyline helped “The Last Five Years” to be named one of Time Magazine’s Ten Best Shows of 2001. The screenplay was given an off-Broadway revival in 2013, and later adapted to film in 2014 starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.

The play’s two-person cast is performing through Feb. 27 on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Ticket prices range from $18 to $26, with discounts available for seniors, students, veterans and teachers.

For more information about “The Last Five Years” or to purchase tickets, call the Grand Theatre box office at 801-957-3322 or visit the-grand.org.
