The Center for Health and Counseling started giving away 400 free flu shots Sept. 14, but they are running out fast.
The CHC anticipates that they will run out of the free flu shots this week, but students can still receive a shot for $15 after the promotion ends.
“Get the shot — don’t get knocked out for a week,” says CHC clinic manager Mark Francom.
The flu virus is not the same each year and requires a new vaccine annually. How the virus changes from year to year can determine the effectiveness of the shot.
Contracting the flu can force someone to miss up to a week of school or work.
There is a nasal spray for those who don’t like needles. The nasal spray is not available at the CHC but can be obtained from a doctor.
The CHC has medical professionals who are experienced in administering shots. It’s just a ten-minute process to get in, get the vaccine, and get out.
If you miss the free flu shot promotion, remember to look out for advertisements around campus or on social media for when they begin to offer them next year.
