It’s official, I’ve borne witness to the most backhanded gesture of “appreciation” toward SLCC’s part time employees. For our hard work over this year we were handed $25 gift cards to Harmons Grocery- as taxable income of course, rather than something useful like personal leave time that was stripped away two years ago, or a meaningful cost-of-living increase.
Twenty-five dollars, which amounts to two to three hours… after taxes. That kind of appreciation is rather hard on the jaw.
