Bucket List Club brings adventure to SLCC students

Bucket List Club (Jaron Bytheway)

The Bucket List Club (BLC) was founded on the idea of fun, freedom and fulfillment, inspired by a group in Denver Colorado and created for the generation of young college students at SLCC.

“I wanted to create the same thing in Salt Lake (much like RAT Pack in Denver), so I created the Bucket List Club,” says Jaron Bytheway, president and founder of the BLC.

The BLC is all about living life to the fullest and learning new ways to achieve dreams.

“We have a blast, and we learn a lot,” says Bytheway.

On September 14, 2013, an activity called Pirates of Mirror Lake is scheduled, where members will rent canoes, act like pirates and try to sink one another’s canoe.

A trip to Texas is planned for October, with an edutainment seminar.

“At the meetings we go over personal development, we talk about different ways to make money and how to become an entrepreneur,” says Bytheway.

Weekly meetings are held each Wednesday at Taylorsville Redwood Campus Student Center in the President’s Room at 4:30 p.m.  At the meetings, members will plan activities, have leadership trainings and occasionally guest speakers. Leaders of BLC recommend that members attend meetings, although it is not required.

Membership is open to all students at SLCC and dues are $15.

Some of the fees from membership will cover the cost of a t-shirt for members. Additional fees may be required depending on the activities each member chooses to participate in.

“Being a leader is something you have to participate in,” says Bytheway.

Activities are posted regularly on the group’s Orgsync page and on Facebook.
