An original holiday musical theatre performance is opening at the Grand Theatre on Dec. 10.

A Diva Holiday is an interactive modern story with a classic message. It loosely mixes elements of Charles Dickens’ “Scrooge” character with a familiar array of Jazz music.  A Diva Holiday is a feel good event for the whole family to enjoy.

A Diva Holiday will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 06 through 10 at South City Campus’ Grand Theatre. General admission is $24, but the theatre offers SLCC students one free ticket, and they may also purchase up to four additional tickets at half price.

For tickets, visit www.the-grand.org or contact the box office at (801) 957-3322

“It’s a really fun, warm Christmas message,” says Eric Jensen, who co-wrote the performance alongside Richard Scott, Robin Wilkes-Dunn and Kevin Mathie.

Audience members will follow narrator Jonathan McBride, through a series of musical monologues. With each note wrapped in a delightful mystery as this interactive tale takes a surprising twist.

It’s called, A Diva Holiday because the script was written specifically for five talented Salt Lake City vocalists: Erica Hansen, Detorea Oliver, MacKenzie Seiler, Erica Walters, and Alicia Washington.

“The stuff you’re going to go watch at other places has been seen and done before,” says Kate Rufener, community outreach coordinator for The Grand Theatre. “This is brand new. Never been seen, never been done anywhere.”
