Why would you want to attend a Writing Workshop when you are already in school?

To answer this question it is best to understand what Writing Workshops are. Writing workshops explore a variety of writing topics in theme-based classes. Workshops are created in response to community requests. Past workshops include: Letters to the Editor, Poetry, Memoir, Editing Tips, Application Essays, Journaling and Fiction.

The SLCC Community Writing Center (CWC) supports, motivates and educates people of all abilities and educational background who want to use writing for practical needs, civic engagement and personal expression.

Students of SLCC can attend any of the SLCC Community Writing Center’s workshops free of charge with their ID card; registration is required. The fall semester the SLCC Community Writing Center will host workshops such as Twitter Fiction, Revision Tips, Songwriting and Sports Writing. All of the workshops are facilitated by members of the community or one of SLCC Community Writing Center’s very own writing assistants.

The CWC also welcomes SLCC students to become mentors for the award-winning Salt Lake Teens Write Program. It is a great way to serve your community, change a life for the better and enhance your own life at the same time. For more information, visit the SLCC Community Writing Center’s website: http://www.slcc.edu/cwc/salt-lake-teens-write.aspxhttp://www.slcc.edu/cwc/salt-lake-teens-write.aspx

Join the CWC mailing list to find out about upcoming workshops, events and other special projects. You can find the CWC at Library Square, 210 East 400 South, Suite 8 in Salt Lake City. For more information, contact the SLCC Community Writing Center, www.slcc.edu/cwc, cwc@slcc.edu or 801-957-2192.
