SLCC soccer to hold open tryouts this month

In preparation for its first year in NJCAA competition, the Salt Lake Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams will hold open tryouts to assemble their rosters.

The tryouts will take place Friday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 25 at Bruin Soccer Field on the west side of Taylorsville Redwood Campus. Tryouts for the women’s team will begin at 5 p.m. each day, followed by the men’s tryouts at 7 p.m.

The announcement comes a week after SLCC Athletics hired Mark Davis to serve as head coach for both teams. Davis previously coached at BYU-Hawaii and was named head coach of Real Salt Lake Women earlier this year.

SLCC announced in March that they would field men’s and women’s soccer as part of its athletic program for the first time in school history. The Bruins will compete in the Scenic West Athletic Conference and will be eligible to participate in postseason play.

The tryouts are open to anyone who will be a full-time SLCC student this fall.
