The Bruins enter the Region 18 Tournament as the number one seed. The tournament will be played at USU Eastern in Price, Utah from Feb. 26-28.

The SLCC men’s basketball team (25-5, 13-2 SWAC) took care of NIC (21-7, 9-6) in the late game, 82-78.

Salt Lake’s LaBrian Shiflet led all scorers with 21 points. Shiflet shot 6 for 8 from the field, including 5 of 6 from 3-point range.

The Bruins led by 11 at halftime, but NIC countered with a 19-6 run to start the second half to lead 51-48. Two baskets by Shiflet, including a 3-pointer with 12:33 left in the half, put the Bruins up 53-51; Salt Lake held the lead through the rest of the game.
