On Saturday, October 4, runners of all ages endured the 5KRunDead, a charity fun-run through a zombie-infested course at Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Campus.

Make-up artists from the SkinScience Institute of Salt Lake City transformed both participants and spectators into zombies for the event, adding to the theme of the event.

Testing their agility, endurance and strength, each runner was given flags to represent their health, which the zombies would attempt to steal.

“It was fun getting all made up and chasing after people,” said Shane Wilkinson, a SLCC film student who volunteered to be one of the zombies for the event. “[The event runners] made it a challenge for me to get their flags. It was fun but I am exhausted!”

All event participants eventually crossed the finish line, a number of them actually “surviving” the event by having at least one flag left.

All proceeds collected through the event will benefit local schools and scientific research on cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
