On Feb. 22 the Women’s basketball team clinched a share of the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season championship in their win over Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) in a 72-50 victory.

The Bruins who are ranked No. 9 in the nation swept CNCC 3-0 this season and was a perfect 12-0 at Bruin Arena.

The Bruins, led by Head Coach Betsy Specketer, earned a share of the conference title with their rival College Southern Idaho (CSI), but the Bruins beat CSI in their two meetings this season to earn the top seed in the Region 18 Championship.

The Bruins offense scored 68.6 points per game this season, led by  Natalie Parsons (11.6 points per games) and Cassidy Fraughton (10.4 points per game.)

This was the first time for the Lady Bruins to finish in first place in the SWAC since the 2010-2011 season.

The Bruins get a first round bye and will face the winner of the No. 4 seed Snow College versus No. 5 seed USU-Eastern game which takes place on Thursday, Feb. 27.
