Sophomore Kurtis Toolson has 20 to lead all scorers and freshman De’Sean Parsons scores 18 points to help the Bruins beat Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival North Idaho College on Thursday night in a 72-59 win.

Salt Lake Community College men’s basketball team gets their win number 22 on the season and a ninth victory in conference play with the win over NIC. The Bruins who led the whole game completed their sweep of NIC, beating them for the third time this season.

The Bruins had an 11 point lead to end the first half and never looked back. SLCC shot the ball well at 49 percent on the night from the field, 4-for-12 from the three point line and 17 of 20 from the charity stripe in the win.

SLCC freshmen forward Neal Monson helped the Bruins with 10 points and 12 rebounds giving him a double-double on a night when sophomore guard Gary Payton II added 12 points and five rebounds.

The Bruins (9-3) continue to chase No. 2 ranked College of Southern Idaho (12-1), which is in first place in the conference and will get a shot at taking them down on Saturday night as they finish their final road game on the season.

The game tips off at 5 p.m. on Feb. 15 and can be streamed at www.ihigh.com/csi/. The Bruins have two home games in the season and to get a shot at a share of the conference lead, would need a sweep and two losses by CSI.

  1 2 Final
SLCC 36 36 72
NIC 25 34 59
