Brewvies: A delicious cinematic experience

Dinner and a movie usually means trying to decide on a restaurant, then trying to decide on a film, then trying to decide where to watch said film, then rushing through dinner to get to the film on time. On 677 South and 200 West in Salt Lake City, there is a place where the entire process is streamlined by offering a great meal right in the theater.

Brewvies is Salt Lake’s only pub/movie theater. This unique little spot sports an impressive menu of pizza, burgers, salads and desserts, all of which are delicious. Lunch and dinner can either be enjoyed in the dining area or eaten in the theater itself, which features convenient tables along the seats so that dinner doesn’t become a game of how much can be balanced on the lap.

This is by no means the usual theater food of a hot dog that’s been there since the first Bush administration. Brewvies serves quality burgers stacked to the eye, as well as delectable steak fries that can’t be beat. It’s a great dining experience right in the middle of Salt Lake City.

ID is required to get through the door, since some of Utah’s finest beers are served on site. These also can be brought right into the films so patrons can enjoy a drink before, during and after a film. And since Brewvies has easy access to the Trax line, getting home afterwards is simple.

Brewvies offers all of its services at incredibly reasonable prices. Meals are around $10 a plate. Coupled with great prices Brewvies offers a great discount for students. Brewvies also offers an “early bird” special, which includes a burger, drink and movie ticket for only $11. And with garlic burgers on the menu, it’s the best deal in town.

The theater itself offers some of the hottest titles out, as well as films from the local film festivals that frequent Salt Lake City. The already rich experience the local flavor has to offer to the film industry is enriched perfectly by a great burger and a refreshing beer.

The entire concept of Brewvies is ingenious. A one stop dinner and movie for a great price just can’t be argued with. This Salt Lake favorite is sure to become a regular on anyone’s Saturday night rotation after one visit.
