Does the government help?

I watch the news almost every day, and I can’t believe what I see and hear as far as what the government in Washington D.C. is doing. The way I interpret what is going on in Washington is that Congress will never accomplish anything.

There are too many issues that Congress can’t seem to work out at all. At this time the big issue is the economy. Congress and the Senate can’t get together and agree on what to do. Everyone has a different idea of what the best thing to do is, and no one seems to be willing to compromise enough to come up with a working solution.

These politicians say that they have the American people’s welfare at the top of their list of things to accomplish as far as making the economy better. Well the economy is not better. there are still a lot of people out of work and losing their homes.

I guess everything would be all right if everyone made as much money as a Congressman does. Or maybe politicians should only get paid a minimum wage, then they can actually experience what it means to be deprived of enough money to get by every month and not make enough money to do things like save to buy a house. Maybe then something would actually be done for the average American.

It is true that America is the land of opportunity, but if you look at what happens with that, famous people like musicians, actors, professional athletes and people on television are rich, but not everyone can be one of those professions. There are other ways to make a better than average income, but the way things actually work, the average working American is depended upon to make a company run. For instance, with a production company such as Easton Aluminum, not everyone can be in charge. The company needs regular employees to do the production work. These are the average Americans that are struggling right now.

These are the type of people that need help from Washington before they are laid off, but they are not getting it because Washington can’t agree on any plan of action. Yes a lot of the reason for all the arguing is because it’s two different political parties. If it’s not one party’s fault it’s the other one’s fault according to the media.

It is my opinion that it’s not any one party’s fault more than the other one. Both parties are equally to blame because they both won’t compromise to a point of making a decision.

If they don’t come to some agreement about the budget, senior citizens and others that get a Social Security check are really going to be in a bad way, because these people rely on that check every month to pay bills and live. These people don’t have the choice of finding a job; there aren’t any of those anyway. I sure would not want to be a congressman or senator who is responsible for people not being able to pay their bills.

Politicians can raise millions of dollars for their re-election campaigns but they can’t seem to raise a dime to help organizations such as the food banks and others that help people who need it for their families. There is definitely something wrong with these politicians’ priorities. Why elect any of them if nothing will be done to help the average American?

Next year there will be elections again and politicians will be running for office, even the presidency. It doesn’t really matter who is president though, because nothing positive will happen.
