The following Letter to the Editor is in response to Terra Gomer’s article “The geomatics degree is back at SLCC,” originally published January 26.
Dear Terra,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and the Globe Newspaper for the fine job of reporting you did on the SLCC Geomatics program, and for the privilege of seeing your article about us on the front page of this weeks’ Globe. All too often people overlook, and take for granted, the crucial and often dangerous work performed by reporters, newspapers, and the media as a whole…when in fact it is the Constitutional freedoms of the press, speech, and conscience – the rights to free and open thought and communications of all kinds – that keep our citizens informed so they may achieve their dreams while pursuing life, liberty, and happiness. Reporters and the media get knocked all the time…when in all actuality you are well among the unsung heroes of our society.
