Salt Lake Community College student Taylor Boying will participate in a fundraiser for Primary Children’s Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Boying, along with his YouTube group ignorantnerds, will play video games live on Twitch, a streaming website where viewers can chat with the players and each other.
“It’s like watching live sports,” Boying says.
The fundraiser will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and continue all day.
Once online, ignorantnerds and partners Captainfructose will also be hosted by well-known streamer Popskyy, who has more than 20,000 followers.
Twitch has become a fairly well-known fundraising tool, with over 8 million dollars being raised for various charities by 2013.
Anyone who wants to chat with the groups or participate in the event will need a Twitch account.
The group is very open and varied in terms of the games they play.
“I stream anything from Robocraft to platformers to Halo,” Boying says. “Whatever I’m in the mood for or people want to watch, I get suggestions all the time.”
