Are you in it to win it?

Starting on Feb. 19, Library Square, Westpointe and Airport campuses will host a “Minute to Win It,” event based on the popular NBC game show series.

The games will take place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Library Square on Feb. 19, 10:30 a.m. at Airport campus on Feb. 20 and 9 a.m. at the Westpointe campus on Feb. 21.

SLCC students will be able to participate in several interactive games and receive a variety of prizes.

“It’s geared toward students to keep them awake and make them happy so they’re not just bored throughout school,” says Brandon Clark, chairman for the SLCC satellite campuses and organizer of this event. “There’s not too many requirements [for the game] if you’re looking to have fun.”

Each student has one minute to accomplish a certain task or game. They will have three chances to finish the task, and once completed, they will move on to the next tasks until they win.

One of the games called, “Dice it Up” involves the participant holding a popsicle stick in their mouth and stack six dice on the end. There will be several games for students to complete, many of which come from the “Minute to Win It” website.

Everyone who participates receives a prize

Depending on how far the person gets in the game will determine the type of prize. Prizes include school supplies, headphones, gift cards, T-shirts, movies and candy.

“[The tasks] shouldn’t be a stretch for students because they will only be one minute,” says Clark. “Students can catch them on their way to class or after class.”

Clark is expecting a big turnout despite the small number of students at the campuses. Overall, there should be 100-130 students expected to participate at the three campuses.

“Since [the game] is at our satellite campuses, the classes are pretty small and [professors] don’t mind if we interrupt their classes,” Clark says.
