The final deadline for spring 2019 graduation applications at Salt Lake Community College is April 25. Students who wish to graduate must complete a series of steps before they receive a diploma.

The feeling of gratitude and excitement rushes through as you, and many other students, reach the final hurrah that is graduation.

For many students at Salt Lake Community College, graduation is right around the corner. If you’re planning on graduating this spring, make sure you’re following the correct guidelines to ensure success.

1. Know the deadlines

The application for spring graduation opened Oct. 29, 2018. The deadline is April 25, 2019.

If you have already started the process, great. If not, make sure to keep track of this deadline.

Once the deadline has passed, applications will no longer be accepted. However, late applications can be processed the following semester.

2. Be ready

In order to graduate, all your credits must be in order. To check your progress, it is recommended to go to DegreeWorks on your MySLCC page.

DegreeWorks allows you to monitor your progress towards your degree completion. Once everything has been completed, you are ready for graduation.

3. What you need

Some graduation requirements include maintaining a 2.00 GPA, completing all incomplete grades, concluded at least 25 percent of required credit hours at SLCC and having zero financial holds.

For a complete instruction guide, it is wise to look over all requirements outlined in the General Catalog, or contact an academic advisor so they can help you go over everything you might need.

4. The process

With all the documents and requirements checked off, how exactly do you apply? The steps are simple.

Go into MySLCC, click on Academics & Records, Academic Planning and then Application for Graduation. From there, choose the options that are provided and best suited to what you are looking for.

5. Waiting for an answer

You might be wondering what to do now. After submitting the application, an email will be sent to your BruinMail within five business days. Your diploma will be mailed to you about ten weeks after the last day of finals.

If you’re wanting to walk at the Commencement ceremony, caps and gowns must be purchased at the bookstores.

All of this information is located at www.slcc.edu/graduation/.
