It’s not every day that you see a fox made from welded steel and wire or a painting composed of floppy disks.

Those are just two of the many art pieces currently on display at the 2016 President’s Art Show. Salt Lake Community College students and alumni are among the dozens of Utah artists who submitted artwork for the exhibit.

The gallery contains art from a variety of different mediums, including paintings, photographs, sculptures and crafts. Each individual submission is reviewed by a jury, who then decides which pieces receive an award.

The winning artists from the 2016 President’s Art Show are as follows:

Best in Show: Lisa Hildebrand, In Living Color
President’s Award: Anna Allred, Ohio Blue 2
Community Award: Paige Anderson, Heartened
2nd place: Heather Stamenov, Letting It All Out
3rd place: Christopher Brown, Electronic Brain

In addition to the publicity and recognition that the art show provides, many local artists use the venue to sell their artwork. Some of the pieces are valued at several thousand dollars.

The 2016 President’s Art Show is free and open until Friday, Nov. 18 in the multipurpose room at South City Campus.
