The 2015 campaign has already seen some noteworthy achievements for the eighth-ranked Salt Lake Community College volleyball team.

So far, the Bruins (9-3) have faced seven nationally ranked opponents and defeated five of them, including the No. 1-ranked team in the NJCAA, Iowa Western.

SLCC just finished a tournament at home last weekend in Bruin Arena.

After defeating No. 3 Northwest College and Casper College on Friday, Salt Lake dropped the first Saturday match against No. 9 Western Nebraska in four sets, ending a five-match winning streak.

Despite the loss to Western Nebraska, SLCC recovered to defeat No. 6 MSU-West Plains in four sets later that afternoon.

Jessica Quayle is the second Bruin in three weeks to earn the Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week award. Sadie Pond earned the award Aug. 24.

The Bruins are scheduled to play two more nationally ranked teams at the STARR Corporation Invitational Sept. 11 and 12 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Their next home match is Sept. 18 against SLCC alumni.

SLCC students can watch all home matches for free with their OneCard.
