The No. 6-ranked Salt Lake Community College women’s volleyball team defeated No. 10 Snow College in straight sets (26-24, 25-18, 25-23) on Friday at the Region 18 Tournament in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The Bruins (21-9 overall, 8-2 SWAC) failed to capture the Region 18 title on Saturday, losing to No. 4 College of Southern Idaho in four sets (18-25, 25-19, 20-25, 18-25).

Friday’s win was enough for SLCC to secure a spot in the 2014 NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship in Casper, Wyoming.

Men’s basketball remains undefeated

No. 8 SLCC men’s basketball defeated Chandler-Gilbert Community College, 87-69, on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and Scottsdale Community College, 79-59, on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

The Bruins (4-0) are on the road for two more games in Scottsbluff, Nebraska before starting their home schedule on Nov. 21 and 22 versus the Salt Lake All-Stars and Impact Academy, respectively.

Women’s basketball wins two of three in Arizona

No. 10 SLCC women’s basketball dropped their first road game of the season on Thursday, Nov. 6, losing to Eastern Arizona 73-69.

The Bruins (3-1) rebounded from the loss with a 76-59 win over No. 5 Central Arizona College on Friday and a 64-49 victory over Division II No. 1 Mesa Community College on Saturday.

SLCC will play in the CSI Tournament in Twin Falls, Idaho on Nov. 14 and 15.
