This is the first year Salt Lake Community College has set up a booth where pictures can be taken in front of a green screen. “Steam Punk” costumes are on display, providing insight into the college’s Fashion Program among the opportunities to interact with superheroes and fantasy role play characters of all ages on the convention floor.

SLCC art student Chris Christman is displaying and selling his art at Salt lake Comic Con’s Artist Alley this year. He has been doing his own artwork by free hand since he first was able to learn how to read and write.

“I really enjoy what I do,” says Christman.

Salt Lake Comic Con is well underway and will run through Saturday, September 6th, allowing many people to engage in all sorts of “geekery.”

People of all ages will be able to experience life size trolls, the vintage 1966 Bat Mobile, Cosplay characters, Han Solo in carbonate and more. Guest at Salt Lake Comic Con include Stephen Amell, Manu Bennett, and John Barrowman from CW’s Arrow. Fans may even get the chance to meet the one and only Stan Lee, creator of numerous Marvel Comics characters.

This second year for the convention is generating even more momentum and attention than the first. This time, the numbers are bolstered by SLCC students from the South City Campus and all the other SLCC campuses.

“I’m excited. I have never been to a comic con before. This will be interesting. My son could not stop talking about it,” says Angela Hone, SLCC Business Major.

The SLCC booth, located at Booths 1019 and 1021, will offer you the opportunity to experience what SLCC students learn on campus in addition to showcasing their skills. So be sure to stop by if you haven’t already!
