Nicholas Brendon brings the funny and hope to ‘Buffy’ fans

Nicholas Brendon was a feature guest at the Salt Lake Comic Con 2013 when he held a Q & A session with those who were at the convention before it officially opened.

He was funny, frank and real as he answered questions from audience members about Buffy the Vampire Slayer and his other work.

“We were able to do a lot because they (the WB) didn’t have any content,” says Brendon.

Buffy was on TV for seven seasons but was originally scheduled for more.

“We would have gone on for nine years, but Sarah (Michelle Gellar) was tired. That poor thing worked her ass off, and if you see her, she has no as,” says Brendon. “You could play handball off that thing.”

Brendon got the part of Xander with no acting experience.

“I couldn’t believe that this was my job.” says Brendon. “Everything was really new.” It was like a dream. “I was just really sad when it ended.”

John Ritter was Brendon’s favorite guest star to work with.

“We just got along really, really well,” says Brendon. “He was a lovely, lovely man.”

Brendon would play Xander again if given the chance.

“I have dreams that we’re doing season eight, and I wasn’t invited back,” says Brendon.

For anyone that would like to see Buffy back on the air, there is hope.

“Sarah’s finally come out and said she would do it,” says Brendon. “She would reprise the role if it were to come around.”
