As of 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, Salt Lake Comic Con sold over 33,000 tickets making it the largest convention in Salt Lake to date, and the largest first year of any Comic Con ever.

Put together by Salt Lake Community College alum Dan Farr, the conference is larger than he anticipated.

“Who would have thought that with five months’ time,” says Farr, “this has exceeded my dreams.”

Stan Lee was announced as a surprise guest for Saturday. It was a surprise even for Farr.

“Lou met with him on Monday… and finally the magic came together, “ says Farr. “Stan said ‘Okay, I’ll come to Salt Lake.” Lee was presenting Ferrigno with a lifetime achievement award.

SLComic Con is scheduled for Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Celebrities in attendance include Noah Hathaway, Peter Mayhew and Richard Hatch.
